As we close the books on 2016, it’s the perfect time of year to look back and look ahead.
Let’s do that.
In the extra days of a long weekend let’s carve out a few moments to reflect and ponder. Or, if you’re really brave, ask these questions with a friend, with a spouse, at a party.
So many of our discussions, interactions, conversations barely scratch the surface. What if we were to go deeper and ask the people we love what their big, scary dream is? What excites them? Scares them? Challenges them?
Brave is contagious so as we celebrate a New Year, share yours. Stir up conversations that inspire and awaken.
Can we do that?
Here are some questions to get you started. (Click the download button below to get your free copy.)
Truly, we started here. Now, walking into that, we will begin.
And I’m letting you take it from there. Let the answers soak. Let them scare you. Scratch out a few simple goals, embrace grace and step. Step scared. Step brave. I’m doing the very same.
Bravely,

This morning my Pastor gave a message on “Reclaiming The High Ground” taking back what we’ve lost in the battle of life.
Your questions on looking back (2016) and looking ahead (2017) are similar in thought. For if we have lost our purpose, our reason for being, in 2016 we need to reclaim, take back, and move forward in 2017. So with that in mind I am answering your questions on looking back:
1. The bravest thing I did last year was answer the call to lead a women’s group in my church. I was asked by my pastor’s wife first, then by the Secretary, in December of 2015 and put them off until January 2016.
2. What scared me was the fact that I am 81 (was 80 when asked) and wondered how I could lead women my daughter and granddaughter’s ages. How could I keep them interested? What were their needs in a Bible study. Did I have the energy, knowledge, and patience….
3. They did. The women responded in such a great way, saying: “This is what I was looking for, what was missing in my life.”
4. The response, the respect they showed me, the excitement of looking forward each week in meeting with these women.
5. I lost a couple because of misunderstanding the purpose of women only; the theme, the subject I chose to start with. (Abortion and why it should matter to Christian women). What did work is a safe place for women to air their hurts, their wounds, secrets, and the relief at being accepted for who they are in Christ.
That is all I can share now, I’ll have to work on the 5 Looking Ahead questions later!
